#77 - Secure Paper MV-50 Book Inventory Limits

Prior to the adoption of VERIFI, every vehicle transfer was completed on secure paper MV-50s. Now, the overwhelming majority of transfers are done electronically using eMV-50s. The transition to VERIFI means that dealerships no longer need to maintain pre-VERIFI inventories of secure paper MV-50s.

Based on the reduced use of secure paper MV-50s, DMV will be establishing new, lower secure paper MV-50 book limits as follows:

  • DLN - 5 Books

  • DLU - 3 Books

  • DLW - 10 Books (DLW MV-50 books include only 25 per Book)

  • DLQ - 3 Books

This process will be completed through attrition of surrendered books. If a dealer surrenders a completed secure paper MV-50 book and exceeds their limit of allowable books in inventory, the book will not be replaced. If payment was tendered as part of the surrender, the monies will be refunded to the dealer.
