Cuomo Outlines Approach to Reopening the Economy
/Ramping up COVID-19 testing and case tracing, and an evaluation of the state's businesses. That's at the center of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's plan for reopening the economy in the next 12 to 18 months. After that timeframe, the Governor hopes that a coronavirus vaccine would be widely available.
The Governor announced the framework at a press conference at the State Capitol in Albany today. He stressed that federal assistance is necessary to perform widespread testing. Mr. Cuomo also said a massive effort across the state would be needed to trace people who have tested positive for COVID-19 to make sure the virus does spread further.
As for the economy, the Cuomo Administration will evaluate the risk of spreading COVID-19 before opening up businesses further. Last month, the Association worked with Governor Cuomo to ensure that dealers’ service operations remained fully operational and to allow for remote sales. GNYADA appreciates the Governor’s cooperation in this regard and looks forward to continuing to work with him to get your businesses back to normal.
