GNYADA Forms Sub-Committee to Address Brokering
/
GNYADA has advocated for controlling the problem of auto brokering in New York for years. The Association successfully passed several bills that increase consumer disclosures and registration requirements.
This week, the Association took another step forward in its effort to curtail this industry by forming a special committee with the single task of passing sorely needed broker reform legislation.
The new ad hoc committee consists of Association directors, members of the government relations committee, and other dealers who have been instrumental in pursuing this issue. The group will ensure that every major step of the process has dealer input, so the final product addresses critical details of this complex and wide-ranging regulatory issue. The group will use its relationships in the industry to gain additional support for the issue, raise funds if needed, and generate a grassroots movement.
Building grassroots participation in the advocacy effort is the strongest asset dealers, and the Association has. As GNYADA regularly says, lawmakers pay attention when they hear directly from dealers about how a problem affects their business and employees.
GNYADA has taken a similar approach to advocacy efforts supporting past Franchise Law bills, the repeal of vicarious liability in New York, and other major efforts. GNYADA is confident these strategies will yield positive results as well.
