Governor Announces Business Restart for Parts of State
/Metro NY Region Opening Not Expected for May 15th
Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave more information today about how he will reopen New York State’s economy beginning this Friday, May 15th. Three regions of New York, all Upstate, are expected to meet the public health criteria for reopening specific sectors of their economy at that time. The Downstate region, however, still has some ways to go.
In the meantime, dealers, as per the official designation GNYADA requested, can continue to run their service departments, and can now offer sales - by appointment only. Dealers can also bring back support personnel as needed to conduct necessary operations including accounting, billers, etc.
Until new COVID-19 hospitalizations drop enough, and other metrics change, like a decrease in the number of hospital deaths and an increase in hospital bed capacity, all or parts of Metro New York’s economy will remain closed.
GNYADA’s new proposal, approve last week, clarifies that dealers may schedule appointments for customers to speak with sales representative and show vehicles. You can find GNYADA’s bulletin here.
GNYADA is continuing its efforts with the Cuomo Administration to fully restart dealer operations in the Metro New York Region as soon as possible and for additional assistance in alleviating the many restrictions that prevent dealers from fully servicing their customers and to get financially back on their feet.
