Governor Reinstates Annual Vehicle Inspection Requirement
/In March, Governor Cuomo issued an Executive Order temporarily suspending annual safety/emission inspection requirements in order to encourage New Yorkers to stay home during the height of the pandemic.
That Executive Order is set to expire on November 3, 2020 which will reinstate the annual inspection requirement.
This mean that any New York State resident wishing to renew a current or previously expired registration for a vehicle that has not been inspected within the past 12 months will need to submit their vehicle for its annual inspection on or before November 3, 2020.
And, because DMV will not renew a vehicle registration until the vehicle has passed inspection, it also means that dealers should anticipate a rush of customers during the next several weeks anxious to schedule an inspection of their vehicle.
