The federal government will pay 100% of COBRA insurance premiums for employees who lost their jobs due to COVID, and for their covered relatives, through September, allowing them to stay on their company-sponsored health plan, under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that President Joe Biden signed into law on March 11.

If it was only that simple. COBRA is already a complex set of laws and regulations with many traps for the unwary, and mistakes can be costly. Fully subsidized coverage will dramatically increase COBRA elections and employer administration time.

This webinar will describe the new COBRA premium assistance requirement, including which employees are eligible for assistance, when the assistance expires, notice requirements, and tax credits available for employers.

This webinar will provide:

  • A list of “Must Do” actions dealers need to take now.

  • Who is eligible for the premium subsidy

  • Subsidy timeline of requirements.

  • The DOL’s Model Notices

  • How employers will be reimbursed for the premium subsidy.
