#79 - Use of VERIFI Book of Registry

Dealers are required to enter all vehicles offered for sale in their VERIFI Book of Registry. For all transactions entered into VERIFI, dealers are not required to maintain a permanently bound paper Book of Registry.

If requested by law enforcement or the DMV, the dealer may print a copy of their VERIFI Book of Registry or offer an electronic copy for review.

For all sales that occurred prior to a dealer’s adoption of VERIFI, the paper Book of Registry must be maintained by the dealer and available for review for at least three years after the vehicles contained therein were sold (see, Commissioner’s Rules & Regulations section 78.25(b)).

Failure to produce these records upon demand could result in administrative sanction.
