NYC Announces Vaccine Mandate on ALL Private Sector Businesses
/New York City Mayor DeBlasio announced today that he will impose a vaccine mandate on all private sector employees regardless of the size of the business. No formal documentation has been released detailing exemptions or other limitations. According to the announcement private sector employers will have to mandate vaccines for all employees beginning on December 28th.
DeBlasio stated “We in New York City have decided to use a preemptive strike to really do something bold to stop the further growth of Covid and the dangers it’s causing to all of us.”
It is likely that there will be legal actions to ban such a universal mandate. Although we have few details about the New York City mandate, it differs from the federal mandate, which is currently being litigated, in that the City mandate applies to every employer operating in the City, regardless of the number of employees.
Many questions must still be answered including how medical and religious exemptions will apply? How will this mandate apply to union employees? Will remote workers be required to get vaccinated?
This is breaking news, and we are awaiting further information. As soon as we know more, we will update City dealers.
